How to convert your files for submission
The following instructions are for PC/Windows users. Since the author is not familiar with other systems, visitors using Linux or MacOS will have to look elsewhere for assistance.
How to convert an audio file.
If you don’t already have a program to convert your audio file into an MP3, you’ll need one. If your “source” file is a WAV file (as if often the case) download and install Wav2MP3.Once installed, you can use it to convert WAVs to MP3, and best of all it’s free.
If you need to convert some other format to an MP3, you could use the demo version of GoldWave. GoldWave does A LOT of things, but you can just open the file in GoldWave and then use the “Save As” option to save it as an MP3. The demo version allows this.
- Converting an Image File
This is a bit easier, but will still require you to install a program to do it. In this case, another Freeware program, called Irfan View is recommended.Once installed, open the image file you want to send. Click on “Image” in the menubar, and then click on “Resize/Resample”. In the upper left corner of the dialog box that appears, make sure “Set New Size” is selected, also make sure that “Preserve aspect ratio” is checked.
Now enter ‘200′ in the “Width” box and take note of the numbers that appear in the “Height” box. The goal is that neither of these numbers should exceed 200. If your image is not perfectly square, one of the numbers will not be 200. Just make sure that the one that doesn’t equal 200 is NOT greater then 200. If it is, click on that box and type in 200.
Click “ok”.
Save the image.
That’s it!
Now that you have both your files in the correct format, you’re ready to submit them!
