LIFE BEHIND THE 8 BALL was made using the recording techniques of those classic Chess sides, real musicians, playing together in the studio direct to analog tape. A stock 1958 Hammond B3 and 145 Leslie speaker were utilized for this recording. On the road Slim uses a Speakeasy Preamp along with his vintage Leslie 145.

Born about 20 miles from where Robert Johnson played his last gig, Slim hails from Leflore County Mississippi. He honed his blues chops playing on the Barbeque joints and Elks Clubs on the chitlin’ circuit throughout the Deep South. Influences include Billy Preston, Marvell Thomas, Carson Whitsett, and Booker T.
